Event Curation
Monk is a curator of experiences, large and small. He has founded festivals and events that attract attendees from across the country to intimate special interest experiences with intention and purpose. His network extends into the worlds of visual art, dance, music, community advocacy, and change-makers.
When Monk is on the turntables himself, you will hear an eclectic vibe-enhancing mix of multigenre sonic goodness. Catch him spinning jazz, jazz-hop, house, funk, alternative Hip Hop, trip hop, Latin rhythms, reggae, Afro Beats, disco, RnB and more. I did say multigenre, didn't I?
Murals and More
Monk is a muralist with public art in both Grand Rapids and Holland, MI. He hosts aerosol workshops for youth and teens and can frequently be found painting live at community events and festivals. Monk most enjoys community art projects that promote a sense of belonging through community.
Monk is also a gallery artist fusing his love for graffiti, aerosol, and Hip Hop into his canvas work.
Grand Rapids Hip Hop Academy
The Grand Rapids Hip Hop Academy (GRHHA) provides classes and workshops grounded in the 5th element of Hip Hop, KNOWLEDGE. Participate in Hip Hop element classes such as DEEJAYING, GRAFFITI, EMCEEING, BEAT MAKING, and CULTURE. Classes serve youth to adults.
Teknique Street Dance Academy partners with the GRHHA to provide BREAKIN' as well as events.
